- The Principle of Mentalism
Just as our image in the mirror is a reflection of our body, so the universe and all it contains is a mere illusion, a reflection of the all – our collective mind. The ancient Hermetists used the word “meditation” to describe the process whereby the universe is created in the mind of the all – divine attention – the word “attention” here derives from the Latin root meaning “to reach or stretch out”. The act of divine attention is therefore as expansion of mental energy.
- The Principal of Correspondence
“As above, so below; as below, so above”. This principle embodies the truth that there is always a correspondence between the laws and phenomena of the various planes of being and life. There are planes beyond our knowing. But when much that would otherwise be beyond our comprehension. Just as knowledge of the principles of geometry enables astronomers on earth to map far-off planets, so knowledge of the Principe of Correspondence enables us to extrapolate knowledge of the unknown from the known.
- The Principle of Vibration
“Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates”. This principle explains that the difference between manifestations of matter, energy, mind, and even spirit, results largely from different rates of vibrations as well as those of others.
- The Principle of Polarity
According to this principle, there are two opposite sides – or poles – to everything and everyone, with an infinite number of degrees in between. Of course, judging where one pole begins and another end is trickly because they are entirely subjective concepts. Try looking at your thermometer and working out where “hot” ends and “cold” begins! An understanding of this principle enables you to change your own polarity, as well as that of others – providing you are prepared to devote the necessary time to studying and mastering this art.
- The Principle of Rhythm
This principle explains how everything is constantly moving to and for in a pendulum-like way. Like the oceans, there is a tide-like ebb and flow, with a corresponding high tide and low tide, in accordance with the principle of Polarity. There is always an action and a reaction; an advance and a retreat; a rising and a falling. Having grasped this principle, you can learn to overcome its effects by applying the Mental Law of Neutralization. Although this won’t stop the principle of Rhythm from taking effect, it will allow you to escape its influence upon you to a certain degree, depending upon how well you learn to master the principle.by doing so, you can learn how to use it, instead of being used by it.
- The Principle of Cause and Effect
This principle explains that there is an underlying reason for every and that nothing can ever happen by chance. By studying and mastering this principle it is possible to rise above the ordinary plane of cause and effect and to become a causer, instead of an effect.
- The principle of Gender
Everything contains masculine and feminine principles. On the physical plane, the principal manifests as sex; on the mental and spiritual planes it takes higher form. No creation – physical, mental or spiritual – is possible without this principle.
Having acquainted yourself with the Seven Hermetic principle, you now need to familiarize yourself with the Seven States of Matter, something which is essential if you are to understand reality creation.
